It has been a good year for Indian cinema at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival.
But, did our Bollywood beauties fare just as well on the red carpet?
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on day one of the festival shined in her teal Elie Saab and her look on day seven, in a marsala coloured layered Oscar de la Renta, was dazzling. While fashion pundits were on the fence about Sonam Kapoor’s Cannes outing – her feathery Elie Saab especially received mixed reviews – the actress’ Ralph & Russo couture gown and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla appearance at the Chopard party confirmed that the actress was still Bollywood’s numero uno fashionista.

Aishwarya Rai in Ralph Russo
The dramatic ruffles gown was amongst Aishwarya’s best picks for the film festival. Wearing her hair in soft curls and sporting nude makeup, she let the black and white gown do all the talking. The strapless gown even featured a majestic train.
Richa Chadda in Sabyasachi
Perhaps the best Indian look from the French Riviera this year, Richa Chadda deserves extra props for going Indian at the screening of her film Masaan. Richa wore the floral print sari with a sequin blouse and finished the look with a small bindi, coral teardrop earrings and a matching Sabya clutch box.
Sarah Jane Dias in Gaurav Gupta
We’ve seen this number on Deepika Padukone before, but there is no denying Sarah Jane Dias worked this Gaurav Gupta gown.
The actress wore the navy sculpted rosettes gown with sleek middle parted hair, earrings from Hanut Singh and a simple red lip, leaving little else to be desired.
Sonam Kapoor in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla
Sonam chose to wear this AJSK ruffled sari to show off the exquisite sheer laser cut blouse.
A right move on her part, the drape gave the look a hint of drama. She wore the sari with Suhani Pittie earrings and a Bulagri watch on day one of press interviews.
